Growth Engine & Execution
The Growth Engine
Turning strategy into repeatable execution
(Because “Strategy without execution is pointless and execution without strategy is aimless”)
Many businesses already have most of the ingredients: talented people, a website, CRM, agencies, content, sales activity, marketing campaigns and an increasing collection of technology and AI tools. The problem is that the ingredients don’t necessarily form an engine.
We often find gaps between the proposition and the website, between marketing activity and sales follow-up, between CRM configuration and the real customer journey, or between what the business wants to achieve and the capabilities or capacity of the team expected to deliver it.
Build is where strategy becomes operational. It is about putting in place the people, digital infrastructure, processes, data and content that allow good commercial thinking to be executed consistently.
How strong is your Growth Platform?
The challenge lies in understanding where the real friction sits, which Growth Levers offer the greatest opportunity and what needs to change first.
Our Re:Map Growth Assessment is a prioritisation exercise. It provides a Growth Readiness Scorecard and provides a simple way to assess the strength of you current commercial foundations across three areas: Define, Build and Scale.

People & Team
Growth needs the right combination of people, skills and capacity.
That doesn’t necessarily mean building a large internal sales and marketing team. The strongest model may combine employees, commercial leaders, advisers, agencies and specialist suppliers. What matters is having the capabilities the strategy requires, clear ownership of the important activities and a shared understanding of what good performance looks like.
As businesses grow, we often see the challenge shift from simply finding good people to creating a team that can work effectively across traditional sales, marketing and customer boundaries.
Digital Ecosystem
The website is only one part of an increasingly connected commercial ecosystem.
Websites, customer portals, social channels, CRM, marketing automation, service desks, analytics platforms and other digital touchpoints all shape how prospects and customers experience the business. Increasingly, AI sits within this ecosystem too, helping businesses research, create, personalise, automate and interpret at a scale that was previously difficult to achieve.
The opportunity isn’t simply to add more technology. It is to understand where digital tools and AI genuinely remove friction, improve the customer experience or make the commercial team more effective, and where human judgement and interaction still matter.
Process, Journey & Data
Growth becomes easier to scale when the commercial process reflects how customers actually buy.
That starts with understanding the journey from stranger to prospect, opportunity and customer, and, ultimately, to a high-value long-term relationship or advocate. CRM configuration, lead management, sales processes, automation and reporting can then be built around that journey rather than becoming separate administrative exercises.
Good data provides the connective tissue. It helps teams understand where opportunities originate, what happens next, where momentum is being lost and which activities are genuinely contributing to growth.
The aim isn’t more process for its own sake. It is enough structure to make execution more consistent, measurable and easier to improve.
Content & Credibility
Customers need reasons to believe.
Useful content can answer the questions they are already asking, demonstrate expertise and help them understand a problem long before they are ready to speak to sales. But credibility goes further than content production.
Customer stories, case studies, testimonials, evidence, data, expert perspectives and clear proof points all help turn a proposition from something a business says about itself into something a prospective customer can believe.
When these assets are built around the customer journey, they also give sales teams something valuable to work with: relevant evidence and stories that help conversations progress rather than simply more collateral.
From building blocks to Growth Engine
None of these elements operates particularly well in isolation.
Great content with poor distribution achieves little. A sophisticated CRM cannot compensate for an unclear customer journey. AI and automation amplify weak processes as readily as strong ones. Talented people struggle when ownership is unclear or the infrastructure around them creates friction.
But when the people, digital ecosystem, processes, data and credibility begin working together, isolated sales and marketing activity starts to become something much more valuable: a repeatable Growth Engine.
The foundations are in place. The next challenge is to make the engine perform, learn and improve as the organisation grows.
What does a Growth Platform look like in practice?
Frameworks only become useful when they work in the real world.
We’ve helped businesses at very different stages of growth address different combinations of these challenges, from sharpening positioning and rebuilding commercial teams to improving CRM, creating new demand engines and preparing organisations for their next stage of development.

Questions CEOs ask us
Why isn't our go-to-market strategy delivering the growth we expected?
A good strategy can still fail if the organisation isn’t equipped to execute it. Gaps in capability, disconnected sales and marketing activity, poorly configured systems, weak processes or insufficient content can all get in the way. The challenge is often turning strategic intent into consistent execution.
How do I build a more effective sales and marketing engine?
Start by looking at how the different elements work together rather than optimising each in isolation. People, digital platforms, CRM, processes, data and content all need to support the same customer journey and commercial objectives. The aim is to create a connected engine rather than simply more activity.
Do we have the right sales and marketing team to deliver our growth plans?
The question isn’t simply whether you have good people, but whether you have the right capabilities for the strategy. That may involve developing the existing team, recruiting new skills, restructuring responsibilities or bringing in specialist partners. Ambition, capability and capacity need to be reasonably well matched.
How should we improve our CRM, sales process and customer journey?
Start with the customer rather than the technology. Map how prospects discover, evaluate, buy and develop their relationship with you, then examine whether your processes, CRM configuration, automation and data support that journey. Technology works best when it reflects how the business and its customers actually behave.
How should we be using AI in sales and marketing?
AI can help with research, insight, content, personalisation, automation and sales productivity, but adding tools isn’t a strategy in itself. The bigger opportunity is to identify where AI can remove friction or improve an existing process. Automating a weak process generally just allows you to do the wrong thing faster.
We have a growth strategy - what do we do next?
The next step is turning the strategy into operational capability. That means assessing whether you have the people, digital ecosystem, processes, data and content needed to deliver it consistently. For many businesses, this is the point where a strategy starts becoming a repeatable Growth Engine.
Ready to Build Yours?
The Re:Map is a mutual investment of our time and yours to establish what needs doing and how to best achieve it.
Every business is different. But the same questions are worth asking:
- Have you defined your winning strategy?
- Do you have an engine capable of delivering it?
- Is your organisation capable of scaling it?
More ways to build the Growth Engine
Not every business needs a complete commercial transformation.
Sometimes the strategy is clear, but parts of the Growth Engine need strengthening, updating or putting in place.
We’ve packaged some of the most common ‘Build’ requirements into a focused engagement, giving a clear starting point, scope and outcome.
Growth Engine Foundations
Transformation & Implementation
Once there is alignment around the goals, positioning and go-to-market strategy, the next challenge is making it happen.
We help put the foundations of the Growth Engine in place:
- People and team: Review, recruit, restructure
- Digital ecosystem: Review, update, rebuild
- Process, buyer journey and data: Mapped, configured, governed
- Content and credibility: Review, create, commission
‘Build’ is the transformation and implementation phase, typically six-12 months depending on the starting point and ambition.
